1) The Fire Rated system is a means of installing mains downlighters with integral fire and acoustic properties. All of these products have been independently tested and approved to meet the requirements of BS 476 Pt21 1987 and BS EN ISO 140-3 1995 also BS EN ISO 140-6 1998. They satisfy all relevant sections of current Building Regulations including part B and C of the building regs. Forget about costly and difficult to install fire hoods.
2) Flameguard downlights are fire tested to full 90 minute rating by chiltern international fire and approved to BS 476 Part 21 1987 with solid timber joists and also acoustically tested by the building test centre. With the nature of fire testing and the different sets of joists, do not take for granted that a down light tested in a solid timber constuction will maintain the same integrity within a construction using metal web or engineered 'I' beam joists. Fittings has been fire tested in floor constructions with these types of modern joists and is compliant for both 30 minute and 60 minutes to BS EN 1365:2000. Complies with
3) All down lights carry the 'F' Mark. Sutable for mounting into normally flammable material (eg Wood). Low Energy GU10 carries this mark when mounting into normally flammable material which may cover the down light. Complies with class 3 safety extra-low voltage (Selv) requirements of BS EN 60598. Flameguard fittings carry a 5 Years manufactuers warrantee (Not the lamp)
